Day 20 - The rain in Spain..

Group dinner shot from Last night. Going clockwise from me , Kathy and Steve from new York, Karsen and Bhetie from Denmark and Sue from Australia.

Started out at 6:05am and got into Astorga around 1230pm about 24 km. We stopped a fair bit and took the extra scenic route since we were tired of walking on the busy road. This sign read 322 km to Santiago which in stark contrast to the 298 one I posted yesterday. Seriously the mileage meter here changes daily.

At the first town Puente de Orbigo there is the awesome bridge! It is one of the longest and best preserved medieval bridges in Spain from the 13th century. It was built over an old Roman bridge and possibly the inspiration for Don Quixote!

It was a mostly uphill day which we have not had for a few days. I am finding it takes about an hour and a half to unwind from my walk and shower! Thus being ready for siesta or to wander town. About 3 km from our destination I started T rain. Needless to da today we were soaked and rather tired but overall I was a great walk and a great day!

A nice display in Villares de Órbigo.

Here is a memorial set up for (and added to by) pilgrims. Seen past the town of

Often there are people giving out food for 'Donativos' or donations. This is Davíd (dah- VID) he lives here in a little shelter he made. He was awesome very nice and inspirational for us pilgrims! He greeted everyone that passed by and says he is always there T help the pilgrims. While we were there he pulled out ductape to fix a trekking pole!

  1. That bridge is really Awesome!!! You're meeting so many interesting characters! You will have sooooooooo many memories. Are you getting addresses to keep up with fellow pilgrims? You do look so happy!! I'm going to assume in that picture you posted a couple days ago when you had 2 walking sticks one of them was Bastian's. And I agree with that other comment about where you are, you are right where you're suppose to be. <3 Ant L

    1. I have a few emails but for the most part no contact info. And yes one stick is Bastian's he needs two hands to take some photos.
