I'm exhausted but feel great! Socializing in the common area and wifi section. Yesterday (day 1) was seriously rough. No wifi in the hostel :(. Okay so day 1 was the rough start uphill until the very end where you descend about 600m in 3km over mostly muddy rocks. The uphill beginning wasn't much better uphill 1400 meters in 22 km over paved road, muddy rocks, muddy leaves, muddy grassy, and sometimes dry dirt and rocks. The weather was overcast so little of the supposedly amazing views were visible. The fog was mystic and magical. At one point there were a group of horses I stopped to watch them and suddenly they were engulfed in fog and simply gone.visibility was about 20 feet people would pass me and the disappear into foggy mist. We left at 7am and the sun finally came out at 1:30pm and was interment from then on. Prior to sun I had dew on my arm hair. Happily I did not carry my pack! We packed one bag and sent it ahead. Bastian carried the pack with water and food. This saved my legs and back immensely. I survived! And paid to have my laundry done! Best 2,70 € ever spent! Day 2 was the exact opposite sunny and mostly downhill with some steeper uphills but still a lot of rocks!! We are in Zibiri abt 20km took us from 7am - 2pm. Much easier and I got to treat my first foot blisters!! Having some fun time socializing with fellow pelligrinos this is just amazing! I've met candians, Americans, Australians, Germans, Brazilians, Italians, French, Spanish, just to name a few. I am blessed to be here doing this now even if every muscle in my body is sore and I'm still smiling

ReplyDeleteIt I hard work but rewarding. Makes me really appreciate a nice bed :).
DeleteI'm very glad you're having a good time in spite the long and hard traveling your doing. Hope your taking photos with your camera though from the sound of it, there seems to be a lot of moments that are just gonna be memories for yourself that your never gonna be able to capture on film. It's like that movie with Ben Stiller we seen where he travels the world trying to find that photographer and at the end when he does, the photographer stops photographing and says "sometimes the moment is so beautiful that you don't waste a second trying to capture it." I'm probably butchering the quote but I feel you will probably have many moments like that. You just stop and appreciate it! It's awesome that you are making friends with fellow pilgrimers! Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteThe movie is Walter kitty and yes it is
