Day 10 - Full Moon

Leaving early Is only getting slightly easier. Here I am at 6:30am. I am sending my pack ahead for the next few days to give my body a little break from the weight.

The sunrise today was spectacular! We were almost to our first town - Granon the full moon was up over the town and the sunrise was brilliant behind us. We rushed up tho hill to stand and watch for a good long moment.

The final stats for today are - 22km 6:39am - 1230pm which boils down to 4km/hr or 2.5miles/hr with a nice break for meals We have found grabbing a small breakfast early is very important. So we usually get a croissant or a banana for breakfast and split a sandwich for lunch. Dinner is another story. SPAIN IS AWESOME! The restaurants have a menu del dis (menu of the day) at a fixed price usually 9-12€ you get three courses typically first course (appetizer) you can choose from some soups, rice dish (Pella), spaghetti with red sauce and cheese (no meat but weird to have pasta aa an appetizer, or salad (typically with seafood or tuna on top). Second (main course) you choose from meat (pork, beef, fish) and fries, last course (dessert) flan, ice cream, or mousse. Items vary from place to place but it is so nice to have a full meal! You have to ask for Sal y pimenta (salt and pepper)

Pilgrims have been making signs in the dying sunflowers. This one points the way!

Belerado is very nice. They have a little Hollywood theme with foot and hand prints on the ground of athletes and a pub 'Hollywood'.

Here is our room this is mostly typical of an Albergue/Hostel. If you look you can see me preshower. Post shower I wear yoga pants and tank top! The beds were hand are by the owner! They are much nicer than the squeaky beds of last night.

That is all for today! Long day tomorrow 27.4 km to Ages. Buen Camino!

  3. Love, Love the photos!!!! I guess your camera is working...for the moment :) It's nice to have a variety of hostels. One night you might have one less desirable but perhaps the next night will be better! Your meals sound good. Lots of carbs, which you need. Can u imagine how fit you will be at the end!! The hikes you took before your trip will now seem super easy. Does sending your backpack ahead guarantee you guys a bed? Glad that you're giving yourself a break from the pack!!! Every little bit to make the trek easier and give you a break is fantastic!! Do you get some kind of medal or something at the end?? Happy trails Ant L
