A short rainy day. Departed at 6:05 arrived at Mansilla 1045am (about 18km) and caught the 11:10 bus to León. Every morning I wake and try to grab hold of the dreams disappearing from my consciousness. The more I think on it the more they disappear. I know I have been dreaming a lot but I just don't know most of the details. Initially they were adventure dreams where I was anticipating my next day of travel. Then they turned to more future dreams relaxing in foreign worlds. Presently I believe they are more trials and tribulation like. You know the whole if you can go through these hoops you win the prize. I know one trial had a lot to do with rocks giant pointy rocks to climb over - though tho may have just been one of my walking day dreams. The weather has turned chilly. I'm back to wearing pant legs and sometimes a jacket. Today it rained on us a bit as we left and was quite windy. The sun has only briefly been out all day. Life I rather routine - wake up check the time, grab my toiletries use the bathroom, brush teeth and hair, wake up Bastian, get electronics, deodorant, donn pants and shirt, fill pockets with phone camera iPod and handkerchief, put sleep clothes in their bag, stuff back pack, bring everything to next room, find shoes ( they are often not allowed in room), eat small breakfast (Juice and bread), take daily photo, start walking. Next town stop for restroom and cafe con leche (coffee with milk) or hot cocoa, go back to walking. We have found breakfast is VERY important on days we forgot to pick something up the night before we are much more sluggish. Also it is variable if a town will have anything open when we get there. The handkerchief is rather important saves me on tissues all day and was to rinse out later. Another morning musing - when in a room of 20+ people you want to be considerate. Thus I don't turn on a light and the night before I get everything together. Sometimes though I do end up dressed a little inside out. Depending on where you are There are severs distinctive smells on the Camino. Early morning dew, sunflowers, livestock poop, car exhaust, and sometimes fresh baked goods. I think in the future whenever I smell livestock poop and/or sunflowers I will think fondly of walking over rocks. Tomorrow I look forward to sleeping in past 6am!

Enjoy your night in the hotel!!! The room in the movie was really nice. What time do places there close? You say you get to the town around 1pm but some places are closed. Is it just a l o n g lunch they're closed for or the day? Sending you thoughts of energy and healing. Ant L
ReplyDeleteOur hotel are not as posh as the movie!
DeleteAlso if it is Sunday stores close by 2pm or are not open at all. The rest of the week hours tend to be 8am - 2pm 5pm - 10pm. They close for 'siesta'
