Two Henges worth of ROCKS!

I just can't get away from the rocks. Though I must admit I am not likely to find more interesting rocks than these. First was StoneHenge. It was a bit windy do instead of walking the 2miles we took the tram Today we visited StoneHenge in Amesbury and Avesbury Henge in Avesbury. Both are fantastic visits!

To illustrate the wind here is a beautiful photo.

They recently redid the grounds around stonehenge. Taking down the fence and moving the tourist center. So now you walk a path around the Henge without any visual obstructions except lots of people.

I learned that Stonehenge is not really a henge. A henge is a bank than a ditch and then stones. Stonehenge is a ditch than a bank and the stones. Whereas Avebury is a real henge. It isn't so popular and covers quite a lot of space. You can also get up close and personal with the stones!

We also saw a rainbow.

And I got a right proper cup of tea!

Today it I raining and we are touring the city of London! Post later likely.

  1. OMG You got to lean up on ancient history!!!! Stonehenge looks sooooo much better since they removed the fence!! And a rainbow too! One thing I noticed while living in Europe was how fast the clouds moved. I would look up and watch them zoom across the sky. Well not exactly zoom, but compared to the western states they move pretty fast. Enjoy tea time and crumpets. Whatever you do don't use the word "fanny" (as in fanny pack) and don't say you're "stuffed" when you eat too much. Enjoy

    1. We were remarking earlier about the clouds moving quick. Storms don't stick around long.

      Fanny I understand but stuffed?

I was told they have xrayed the land beneath the stones, and found many interesting new facts about the area...
Curious about the Avebury Stones and will have to read up on that area too. are those stones in a circle?
And... a rainbow spanning across the road ahead :D
