In the 1980's someone decided that there needed to be a theme park displaying all of Europe's countries. They used state of the art technology to present each country In an educational manner complete with 1/25th scale models of famous sites and with the push of a button the country's national anthem plays! They have a guidebook with country facts and information. Seriously this place took us roughly 2 hours to tour. A must see for people who are interested in history and Europe.
You travelled from one country to the next so smoothly no passport checks. No customs. Very nice. Each country listed their population and what currency they currently use ( I was surprised several are not Euro). We became so immersed in the countries and reading the history we stopped taking photos. I think this is a sign of full immersion in the surroundings.
We were pulled out of reverie when we read about all the starting places for the Camino de Santiago! There is one in Berlin and one in Belgium. They even had a telescope set up so you could look from Belgium to the Spain side where they had a model of the Cathedral at Santiago de Compestela!
My favorite part? Walking around Europe pretending to be a giant - Big Ben Smash!
Or Arc de Triomph tasty!
Educational AND fun!
Sooooo cool!!!! We never made it there. We never made it to a ton of neat places!!! Ur dad was here last night and I read your blog to him. Then we had a long discussion about pasturized and homogenized milk. Belgium treats their milk different than we do here which makes for Really good chocolate and ice cream. My favorite waffle was with ice cream, chocolate, and whipped cream. We found a lot of places closed on Sunday, but that was in the 80s. Konijn is rabbit and paard is horse (but that's the Flemish) Ant L
ReplyDeleteHorse?! Also they like to serve raw meat. Milk is rarely refrigerated. Food is just different! Tomorrow (Sunday) is travel day we are heading to Bruges.
DeleteI just feel like this is would be the perfect page to dress up as Godzilla and stomp around! Lol ... also I'm pretty sure we have some friends who would be a little to happy to visit a micro town! =P
