A well known statue is Manneken Pis. The legend is this little boy put out a bomb by peeing on the fuse. This bronze statue is really small and was very crowded. He was original crafted in 1388 but was stolen and even broken once. The current one is from 1965 and was made from the broken fragments of the old one.
His sister Jeanneke Pis was crafted in 1987. The designer got the idea thinking about gender equality. The legend is This fountain was built in honor of loyalty. A very old custom has it that you wish be granted if you throw a coin into the bowl of the fountain.The coins thrown by passers-by into the fountain . Jeanneke-Pis bears witness to tenderness, virtue and admiration of the loved one with the wish to remain faithful to one another. She is not very popular being so young.
Manneken Pis, of course, I knew about. But didn't know he had a sister. I think she looks a lot like a frog. She is not going to be as popular since she was a second thought 600 years later. Ant L
