London - an all day adventure.

Today we purchased all day train tickets Starting at the Hershim train entrance it took about 30 minutes to get into London proper. From there we transferred to Kings Cross to pre purchase up our tickets to Europe. We also visited platform 9 3/4 right near the Harry Potter store!

Than we tubed to the tower of London where they are putting up 880,000+ hand made red Poppies, one for every British death in world war I. You can purchase one to be mailed to you after the display is taken down. On Nov. 11 they will place the last poppies and hold 11 minutes of silence. Very touching display. They had lots of people planting poppies.

Than to the Tower bridge.

We took a cable car over the river Thames. Great views and only £4 to ride one way. London is such a blend of old history and new. I could spend a lot more time exploring. Though it is VERY busy and tons of people!

Than drinks and snack at this fancy secret speakeasy style bar complete with password and secret entrance. The service and food was fabulous!

When we left the bar night had fallen so we went to visit Big Ben and Parliament! We also Sa the London eye and opted to not go up. It is pricey and the weather was looking quite dodgy. Something for the next trip!

Now onward to Ireland! It will take us all day to get there. 8 hours to the feet and 3 hour ferry over to Dublin.

  1. Did you buy something at the Harry Potter Store?? The poppies look Beautiful!!! Very dramatic! I thought one of the pictures you took was on the Eye. The night pictures are stunning! Did you see the crown jewels at the Tower? I'm still looking for Milka bars (like Willy Wonka). Ant L
