Belgium - Brussels Atomium

The Atomium - built to be the center of the 1958 World Fair. This structure, originally built out of aluminum, is suppose to resemble an atom. Today you can tour through 6 balls. Each ball has two levels. The very top one is connected via elevator and has a restaurant and 360° viewing area.

The other 5 balls for tourists are museums with local art and history of the Atomium. There is one with tent like beds to rent out for child groups no adults allowed. Two are Maintenance balls and the last you can rent for events. I wonder if you could get married in a ball. The levels and areas between balls are separated by escalator or stairs. You go up one way and down another!

It is all very entertaining! Though I'm not sure I'd go up again unless I was with someone who had not been.

  1. So did you eat in the restaurant? Sounds spectacular but probably expensive. Once again, great pictures! Ant L
