Day 5 - short work day

Started at Puenta la Reina was going to stop at Estellla but pushed through the 2 Km to Ayegui. Good choice as that last bit was uphill nice to not have to do that in the early Am. Here I am leaving my Albergue!

My phone camera stopped working early on today :(. Here is the last photos I took.

The weather was perfect overcast cool. The Ups weren't so high and the lows not so steep. I think I'm finally getting a hang of this! Left at 7am arrived 3pm this is the hardest job I've ever had in my life! Seriously getting up and just walking all day meditative and exhausting. Lots of rolling hills today. Tomorrow onward to Torres del Rio a long stent about 30 km we shall see how far we make.

HOT afternoon, day 4 success

It was mostly very sunny and HOT!! I applied sunscreen 3 times and am a nice red but no blisters. People hike with random things on their backpack today we saw a dog - Perro. The owner lost his leash and wanted to use the bathroom handed him to Bastian and left for a moment.

We hiked to the famous stair up by the wind turbines. At the top I bought a cold beer - san miguel- as my reward :).

The hike down was just grueling. The sun was intense they say 32 Celsius about 86 F.

Every town has markings to help guide us.

And a cathedral!

Long morning..

Took a wrong turn leaving the albergue but ended up on the right path without much issue.

We also neglected to fill up water and missed the last cafe. We are about 3 1/2 Eating and airing out the toes. Once leaving the city it has been mostly uphill and sunny parts are like this cobblestone.

beautiful views!!

Spontaneous recovery!

Every morning I check my camera phone and this morning it works! For how long I have no clue but here have an early photo getting ready to start day 4

Day 3

Staying in Pamplona tonight. It was a less strenuous hiking day but the sun made it more draining. I applied sunscreen 3 times and am happy to say no sunburn! The views have been amazing. Lots of green and hills with small towns interspersed. The terrain is very rocky no mud today. Occasionally on the steeper areas they put up a cobblestone looking surface not exactly smooth but solid. This makes less rock slippage which is nice because I don't like slipping or stepping on pointy things. It is 5pm we walked from 7:40am - 2:30 pm. I am not very sore so my stretching regiment must be pay on off! Buen Camino!

First photo day 2

Saint John Pied de Port

Literally at the foothills of the French Pyrenees this is where my walking journey begins

Notre dame paris

Beautiful stained glass in Notre Dame.

Day 2 has ended!

I'm exhausted but feel great! Socializing in the common area and wifi section. Yesterday (day 1) was seriously rough. No wifi in the hostel :(. Okay so day 1 was the rough start uphill until the very end where you descend about 600m in 3km over mostly muddy rocks. The uphill beginning wasn't much better uphill 1400 meters in 22 km over paved road, muddy rocks, muddy leaves, muddy grassy, and sometimes dry dirt and rocks. The weather was overcast so little of the supposedly amazing views were visible. The fog was mystic and magical. At one point there were a group of horses I stopped to watch them and suddenly they were engulfed in fog and simply gone.visibility was about 20 feet people would pass me and the disappear into foggy mist. We left at 7am and the sun finally came out at 1:30pm and was interment from then on. Prior to sun I had dew on my arm hair. Happily I did not carry my pack! We packed one bag and sent it ahead. Bastian carried the pack with water and food. This saved my legs and back immensely. I survived! And paid to have my laundry done! Best 2,70 € ever spent! Day 2 was the exact opposite sunny and mostly downhill with some steeper uphills but still a lot of rocks!! We are in Zibiri abt 20km took us from 7am - 2pm. Much easier and I got to treat my first foot blisters!! Having some fun time socializing with fellow pelligrinos this is just amazing! I've met candians, Americans, Australians, Germans, Brazilians, Italians, French, Spanish, just to name a few. I am blessed to be here doing this now even if every muscle in my body is sore and I'm still smiling
